About the Parent Advisory Board (PAB)              

WHO:
A Parent Advisory Board has been formed by parents of children receiving special education services within the Special Education District of Lake County's (SEDOL) 35 member districts and by representatives from SEDOL's staff.


WHERE:
Board meetings are held the first Friday  of each month from 10:00am - 12:00pm. Meetings are held at the SEDOL administration Building, 18160 Gages Lake Road, Gages Lake and are open to the public.    Parents and educators are encouraged to attend.   Please contact us before attending a meeting.


WHAT:
In collaboration with the staff that supports our children, the Board will strive to increase awareness of individual differences, bridge the relationship between school and home, and provide opportunities for on-going training and education for all.


HOW:
Goals for the first year are focused on developing awareness of the Board and obtaining input from parents on enhancing Home-to-School communication. Surveys will be distributed to gather future topics of interest. Committees will then be created and activities developed based on responses received.


WHY:
The mission of the Parent Advisory Board is to advance the educational lives of children receiving special education services through communication, partnership and change.
