A request for nominations was sent to each Special Education Director in the SEDOL member districts. The volunteer role is briefly described below.
We would like to invite you to participate in
a new committee of our very special parent-run organization - the SEDOL Parent Advisory Board(PAB).
The Parent Advisory Board is a nine-member board of parents of children
receiving special education services from the 36 school districts that are
served by the Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL).Our mission is to advance the educational
lives of our children through communication, partnership and change.
The PAB is forming this new District Representative Committee (DRC) comprised of parent representatives from each school district. The children may receive services through SEDOL, through the school district or in a private placement setting. The purpose of this committee is to help advance the Board's mission by:
Establishing a
relationship with identified personnel in your district or school,
Communicating the Parent Advisory Board's mission, goals, activities and educational opportunities, and
Participating in parent support groups in each district for families of children who receive special education services.
Participating in the DRC should require a minimal
amount of your time. The benefits you
receive - like working with the staff that educates your child and learning
more about the services available to you - should make it worth your effort. If you would like to learn more about us, visit our web
site www.sedolparents.org or email us at ParentAdvisory@hotmail.com.
We hope to hear
from you soon!
